Sleeping Seizures - The Answer to What I Have Been Looking For

I am not a medical professional to truly understand the case of child. What I did in order to fully know things that are related to her illness, is by seeking the help of the internet, researching over and over again. Until I finally came across of one post I got from a website I subscribed in order to be informed of Epilepsy's updates. At http://www.epilepsy.com.

There have been times where I truly longed for an answer of what to call the type of epilepsy that had striked my kid. These are excerpts from the article I have read @ http://www.epilepsy.com/articles/ar_1063155671.

My kid's attack were signaled with stiffness of her body. Wondering why it was that way, for as far as I have noticed among other victims, they were moving abruptly, seemingly uncontrolled motions. So I was confused and asking if that was really a type of epilepsy. Now that I have read the above article, I have the answers. But cannot pinpoint which of these, but at least I have known that there really a sleep seizures.

"Awakening grand mal" Epilepsy.

A generalized tonic-clonic ("grand mal") seizures, but they occur only just before or just after you wake up. Typically happen in the morning, but they can also occur when you wake up from a nap.

Frontal lobe seizures.

Brief (generally not more than 2 minutes) and sometimes violent. They usually or always happen during sleep and can be followed by brief confusion. Seizure medicines tend to work better in controlling them if they occur only during sleep.

Benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE).

Jerking of the face, limbs, or both on one side almost always begins during sleep. The child usually wakes up and is alert. Electroencephalogram (EEG) will be helpful to confirm the diagnosis. Check and get confirmation if your child really has BRE for it is always outgrown. Treatment is not always needed for seizures meds are effective at small dosage.

These were three of the types of seizures that I think had struck on my daughter. Knowing these types I think I have to really asked the doctors upon my visits next time, if which one of these falls under the case of my young daughter.

Pregnant Women with Epilepsy and It's Relation to Future Babies

As our little girls grow older, like in my case, I came to wonder what if her seizure still attacks till the time she reached the age of adolescence. Yes, it's really hard for a mom to think of this kind of situation. Although her seizure is not appearing right after she has her maintenance, but we can never tell until when.

What if she's ready to settle down and she's pregnant?

This is the hardest part for me. Since my kid is girl, she is entitled to love and be loved. Of course, she will met a man that would truly understand her situation and later on entitled to carry a child. What will happen to a child, since she's been taking medicine for her seizure. It's still a question for me.

Although I found an article for the website that I have subscribed on @  WHAT HAPPENS TO CHILDREN EXPOSED TO ANTISEIZURE DRUGS IN WOMEN WITH EPILEPSY? but still I was not fulfilled of the trouble I have with me. But still, this really have helped. Here, take a look at the story of the effect of medications for Epilepsy.

This will help us not to be worried so much for pregnant epileptic women but to be aware of the possible risks associated by medications as to the I.Q. rates of the child.

Laser Surgery for Epilepsy - See Videos of Children Being Cured After the Surgery

 Giggling at inappropriate times.

Happy to know that epilepsy has cure now through laser surgery. But question is:

Does this laser surgery applicable only for gelastic seizures, and appear as spontaneous, uncontrollable and often maniacal giggles or laughter?

Never knew that epilepsy has also this kind of as quoted in the article: " a rare form of epilepsy called Hypothalamic Hamartoma (HH) in which a non-cancerous lesion wreaks havoc in a highly sensitive area near the brain's stem. HH affects just on in one million children and, too often, the laughter goes undiagnosed."

Still searching and waiting for the latest treatment in order to combat epilepsy.

My kid is still under her maintenance and everyday I am thinking of her future. What she will become later on. Will she, be relieved for this kind of situation when she turns older? Right now, she is just 1 and 9 months young. Taking her Dilantin while she's at her 4 or 6months, I almost forgot her exact age, sorry for that guys.

Look at Her, So Lovely and Joyful

This is her now.. At the age of 1 and 8 years old, she is so talkative and so joyful. With proper maintenance, still hoping that one day she'll be relieved from this kind of situation.

Just wanted to ask from experts and as well as parents or relatives who has cases like this, is your patient had surpassed this? Or shall I say, was she cured totally? At what age?

Eight Months YoungBaby – Practices Walking

Now, Davey’s 8months young. Glad she’s getting bigger. She’s restless or shall I say, hyperactive. I don’t know why, maybe because she is a kid, excited of everything she see’s lovely. Or maybe because of the effect of the drug she’s been taking as her maintenance. It’s a Dilantin.

My Baby Drama Queen with Her White Gown

So, you are a Drama Queen.  Those big little eyes were great and is perfect.

Her New Image - Hopefully Recovering

In this photo she is 6 months young. For about 4 months, thank God she has recovered but based on what I have read and heard, there is no assurance that this kind of sickness will disappear.. I'm talking about her seizure attacks.

This is her brother. 4 years older than her. Just wanted to say something about my little boy. He loves watching a television. Among his favorites were Tom and Jerry, DragonBall Z, Dora the Explorer, Mulan and many more. He loves singing and is playful.
